I'm looking to update the satnav disc for my E60 and there seem to be a million and one places selling them, but almost all look slightly ropey and like they're linked to Nigerian bank accounts. This one at least takes Paypal so I think I'd have some protection, but could anyone recommend somewhere that they've used before?

In the same boat, I purchased one off ebay for only 15 quid. Safe to say it didnt work and im back to my 2008 maps. These are meant to be good from what I read on E90 forums but yet to purchase and try http://www.bmwsatnavupgrades.co.uk/?gclid=CKjuruLn.

I found that an aftermarket disc like this made the DVD drive much noisier than the OEM disc. So I've not bothered with it. BMW's price for the latest maps is a total joke.

Ive just ordered one from the company i mentioned in the previous post. 3 DVDs covering the whole of Europe with full postcode search and cameras for £16 seems..ambitious. Will have to wait and see.

I'm never too sure how far Paypal will go to intervene, but I'm tempted to take a punt on the basis I've got half a chance of getting my money back if it goes wrong.

When i purchased one from ebay that did not work, i got my money back. For the sake of £16 its worth the risk I think. Seems like a half decent website too.

i think the issue with the non BMW official ones is the quality of the disc used and in turn the burn speed on those. likely if you've bought from someone with a dodgy copy they'll be knocking them out quickly with profit in mind. so will use cheap discs and a quick burn rate (to free up the drive for whatever else they are imaging next). i believe this causes issues and the dvd drive burns itself out as the quality isnt as good as the original so it has to keep rescanning/passing over the data more frequently to read the map. the quick burn speed vs slow burn means more errors are likely to creep into the disc, so more reading is needed by the dvd player. you'd be better off trying to obtain the files, buy a high quality dvd and run a slow burn yourself. but that's just what i've heard, i do have the 3x 2013 disc ISOs myself (for eastern, middle and western europe) but ive still yet to try one! (my map pack is 2005 so desperately needs doing really). this thread has just reminded me i need to try it!

Another thing worth noting with the ones I just ordered from this site is that you don't get charged until you get your discs and are happy with them..could be a good sign! Will update once they arrive and I had a chance to play with them.

As far as I'm aware, legit copies will always command the overly inflated price. For the price you are paying, it's more than likely that someone has just downloaded a pirated ISO copy of the DVD over BitTorrent and then burned onto a cheap and nasty DVD-R.

At £16 its highly possible, will just have to wait and see. Not a huge sum and worth a punt i think

You will struggle to find an original 2005 or 2006 disc for less than £30 on Ebay. I have been watching them for a while and just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money for an 'old' disc. I have a set of 2013 copies that do work, but I find my disc drive is too noisy when I use them and I occasionally get disc read errors.

The best I could find is a 2009 and they wanted £40 for that!! If these don't work or are noisy / unreliable, will stick with my 08 one and use the phone for when it thinks I'm driving on a field

I have the official 2007 disc. I too baulked at the BMW price and tried to go the cheaper route. I bought some quality DVD+R Verbatim DVD's and downloaded an ISO of the latest disc. Burned and ready to go I put it in the car. It worked but it didn't like it one bit, radio wouldn't go off, screen would do funny things, and at one point it wouldn't eject. So in the bin it went and I paid £177 for the official one from BMW. No problems. In my last car I always used a burned DVD, after 4 years the DVD sat-nav system started overheating and malfunctioning. I can't be sure it was the burned discs, but it did seem louder with them than the official discs.

Sat Nav Ireland
I brought a copied DVD from a recommended person on the E90 forum. The DVD he provided did not make the drive any louder and work perfectly. until the drive gets very hot after about and hours driving and then the disc would be to hot to work properly. I am not back with my 2007 disc which never has a problem.

Sat Nav Deals
Update: My DVDs have arrived from BMW Satnav Upgrades people and safe to say I am pleased. I got 3 DVDs covering the whole of Europe. The DVD's had a proper printed face rather than marker pen and clear instructions and contact details for support. I only checked the main disc with the UK maps and found it to work straight away (after the 5 minute install thingy) The dvd drive did not seem to be any louder or have any unwelcome side effects. It has all the latest cameras on it which are accessible via the information tab, just like if you are looking for parking etc. How to get it to warn you, I am not sure. I haven't used it properly to navigate yet but so far I am very pleased, and all for £16 vs £100 + for a used 2013 genuine disc on ebay Would recommend but if i find any issues, I will update.

Have you got the older CCC iDrive or the newer version? I ordered the discs from the same place but the mapping is identical to my 2005 version - new housing developments aren't on there, and whilst the instructions refer to the info tab I haven't got one (nor have I ever had.) So I'm a bit confused.
